My violin lessons are tailored for each individual student. Whether that is to learn to read music, develop advanced violin technique or simply to explore the wonderful repertoire that is available for the instrument, I can guide you (or your child) through your development as a violinist and musician. I stretch and challenge pupils when they are ready, always aiming for a high level of achievement whilst remaining sympathetic to the stresses of aquiring a new skill.
My Teaching Philosophy
I believe that creativity blossoms in a positive learning environment and I strive for this in all of my teaching activities. I aim to make lessons fun and inspiring whilst providing an excellent technical and musical grounding for my students.
Many of my students choose to sit exams with the Assosicated Board of the Royal Schools of Music or Trinity College of Music. Should you choose to do this, I can guide you through the preparation for the exams including Sightreading, Scales and Aural components in your violin lessons. If you prefer to find your own goals such as performances for friends and family or even learning a certain piece by say the end of June, I am equally happy to teach you! Playing the violin is about more than just exams. Having goals in your music making can be useful for many people but for me, the enjoyment of making music is the most important aspect!
My Teaching Studio
Violin lessons are held in my teaching studio at my house in Brooklyn in Wellington. You can find a map here. Lessons cost $30 per half hour or $55 per hour for more advanced students. I also offer discounts for families with more than one person wanting to learn. Head over to the contact page to book a lesson or to send an email with any questions you may have!
